Your Light into My Dark

October 27, 2011

LORD:
Sometimes your beauty overwhelms my senses..
Like this evening . . . .
What is it that
captures my attention . . .
makes me run back to the car for my camera?
I need to stop and pay attention.

It’s the sun that creates the unusual beauty this evening
Without the sun, this scene would surely be dark and foreboding.

And then the sun goes behind the clouds again.

And the scene loses it’s beauty.

But I know the sun is still there.
I saw it.
It’s just behind those clouds over there.

Sort of like my life at times
things seem dark . . .
the outlook even darker.
And then You shine Your light
And there is beauty in my darkness.

Help me remember when You seem hidden.
I will choose to see with eyes of faith.
Grant me this kind of faith.

Dear Carol,
Quoting Chris Tomlin:
There’s a day that’s drawing near
When the darkness turns to light
And the shadows disappear
And my faith shall be my eyes.

Until then, remember what you know about Me
My name is Emmanuel.
God with us!
God with You!

  1. “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” II Cor. 4:6.

I also love the Scripture that tells us God made darkness as well as light because He knows we need darkness and rest. Wouldn’t it be awesome if we always thought like God does?

  2. to all my spiritual sisters…..somewhere the sun(son) is shining. Lean hard into Him, draw upon His strength..He never leaves or forsakes. Thanks Carol for the thought..God with us, God with You!
